Being Proactive is one of the 7 Skills for the Future.  They're key to developing interpersonal relationships and your employability.  The other skills are: optimism, critical thinking, empathy, integrity, adaptability and resilience.  When each of the skills comes together we have flexibility, project passion and enthusiasm.

When you’re proactive you  know how to place your energy to where you have the most influence. You’ll respond better, procrastinate less and move forward to where you want to be. Get into the driving seat of your life by working towards your goals, knowing how to handle procrastination and always creating that space between stimulus and response! When something is bugging us we’ll naturally put our energy on all of the things we can’t control. Being proactive and placing energy onto our attitudes and actions will influence the outcome though. And because 98% of us are natural procrastinators the only way forward is to take action – even the tiniest step forward has an impact.
